Introduction

Just as in the overall world, people in the LGBTQIA spectrum hold various religious views. For many LGBTQIA people, religion has been a place of pain. However, not everyone experiences distress from religion, and, in all actuality, many people find comfort in religion.

In the UC Davis and greater Davis community, there are many LGBTQIA affirming religious organizations that are ready with open arms to help and guide you on your religious journey.

A common misconception about the LGBTQIA community is that the overwhelming majority of LGBTQIA persons are atheistic. However, just as there is a large diversity in the general population, that same spread can be seen in the community.

This study shows hard data about LGBTQIA people’s religious and spiritual identities. If you feel like being LGBTQIA comes in conflict with any religious practice, that simply isn’t the case. There are many religious LGBTQIA people just lie you.
